MASTER OF SCIENCE IN
INTERNET TECHNOLOGY
The MS in IT is a broadly based
interdisciplinary degree that provides
a solid foundation in Internet Technology
while allowing the student to
pursue a concentration in a complementary
discipline or emerging technology.
Currently, there are five concentrations
available: Internet Technology
for e-Commerce, Security and Information
Assurance, Open Source Application Development,
Network Administration,
and Telecommunications Management. Others
will be added as the need evolves.
The individual concentrations/knowledge
areas, with the exception of Open Source
Application Development, are also
available as independent advanced
certificates; an additional course (IT
600)
has been added.
Entering students need not hold an
undergraduate degree in a computer-related
discipline or have experiencee in the
chosen concentration. They may begin
their core requirements immediately upon
starting the program. Prerequisite
courses, however, may be required for the
chosen concentration depending
on the student's background. |

Currently, both the Internet Technology for
e-Commerce and Security and Information
Assurance programs are available online. In
addition, all but the Open Source Application
Development knowledge area are offered as
independent advanced certificate programs with
the addition of IT 600 Overview of Computer
Networks & Internet Technology and an IT
elective.
A student who wishes to continue on in the
M.S. in IT after completing one of the advanced
certificate programs will be able to do so,
provided all other admission requirements are
satisfied. An additional course beyond those
required for both the certificate and the degree
is required.
